My name is Giulio Piacentino. I’m an architect and I like interacting projects. Sometimes I feel like a crazy researcher and I love basketball. I’m often trying and ending up learning the hard way. I would like my projects to be inspirational and fun.

I worked for the makers of Rhino in Barcelona and taught in several places, while focusing mostly on architecture, design and engineering challenges and integration.

Febraury 2009 – July 2009
Architect (till April) and then consultant at Nio Architecten. International design competition for the Vesuvio East Station, Campania, Italy and work on other projects, including competitions and long-standing projects.

Participation in the competition entry for the design of water art in the main square (Grote Markt) of Almere, the Netherlands. Assistance of Jurgen Bey and teamwork with Michou-Nanon de Bruijn for concept, modeling and preparation.

Workshop on curved surfaces modeling, particularly focusing on human form. As a follow-up in the evolution of the studio project, focus in this step on the computational representation in NURBS.

TU Delft, Hyperbody. Guest teacher. Free form geometry in Rhinoceros, including RhinoScript. High score in anonymous student evaluation. Follow-up meetings with students for revisions, review, and help. The workshop was integrated in the design studio.

Introduced a group of 20 students in the area of architecture, traffic and civil engineering who recently arrived in the Netherlands to the university and its own procedures, to establish themselves and feel at home. Mentored a multi-disciplinary urban renewal project on the city of Delft.

Master of Science in Architecture from Delft University of Technology, Bachelor of Science (Laurea triennale) in Sciences of Architecture from Politecnico di Torino with one year study as exchange student at Chalmers University of Technology in Göteborg, Sweden.
